The Wanderer
no fixed route, no bad company
What is The Wanderer?
Curious and unhurried, open to almost anyone and committed to almost nothing. You have had more lives than most people, know things nobody would guess, and have arrived at a genuine ease that others spend years chasing.
The cost: You leave. Not dramatically, and often for good reasons — but there is a trail of half-built things and people who thought you were staying, and you have got very good at not counting them.
The Wanderer, as a person
You have had more lives than most people your age. Places, jobs, whole social circles that would not recognise the others. You are easy company, curious about almost anybody, and hold very little tightly. Somewhere there are people who thought you were a permanent fixture and then you were not — not dramatically, and often for perfectly good reasons — and you have got quite good at not counting them.
Written as one person rather than as a category, which is the point and also the risk — see the note at the bottom of this page.
What the five letters in VUHMG mean
Each letter is one of the Big Five traits, read in OCEAN order. Select any of them to read what that trait measures and how it is scored.
Voyager — high Openness
goes looking for territory nobody has mapped.
Unbound — low Conscientiousness
answers to the moment, not to the schedule.
Harbor — low Extraversion
still water; the place people come to.
Mender — high Agreeableness
closes the gaps between people.
Granite — low Neuroticism
does not move.
What The Wanderer looks like at their best
Arriving somewhere new. Open to anyone, unhurried, genuinely at ease, and able to have a real conversation with a person nobody else in the room would have approached.
What The Wanderer looks like under pressure
You leave. Rarely dramatically and often for good reasons, and there is a trail of half-built things and people who assumed you were staying.
What helps: One commitment you have decided in advance not to reconsider when it gets boring.
How common is The Wanderer?
No population figures are published yet. Rarity is computed from a weekly aggregate release, and the first one appears once enough people have taken the assessment for a cell to clear the minimum publication size of 25.
Nothing on this page claims to describe how common the type is among people. When a release exists it will say which population it came from and how many were in it.
Which types are closest to The Wanderer?
These five differ by exactly one letter — so each stripe pattern below differs from yours in exactly one place. If any of your own letters came back in lowercase, one of these is genuinely as good a description of you as this page is.
What five letters can and cannot tell you
Less than the five scores underneath them, and far more memorably — that is the trade this page is making, deliberately.
A code compresses five continuous measurements into five letters, and throws away everything in between by design. Trait scores have no natural boundaries, so this names a neighbourhood rather than a species: two people sharing a code can differ a great deal, and somebody one letter away may be more like you than somebody who matches all five. Where your own score sits close to the middle we say so — that letter comes back lowercase rather than being decided by a coin flip you never see.
One more, published rather than buried: a personality description is the easiest thing in the world to believe about yourself. If this page felt uncanny, read two others at random and notice how much of those fit too.
