What is The Sentinel?
You keep the people you love safe by seeing the problem before it arrives. Practical, organised, and permanently half-alert, you run the small disasters in your head so they do not happen in the world, and a great deal of the time it works.
The cost: The alarm does not have an off switch. You have spent whole evenings defending against something that was never coming, and the people you are protecting rarely find out how much of your peace it cost.
The Sentinel, as a person
You lie awake running through it. Did the message sound short. Should you have offered. Is the noise the car makes getting worse. Nobody around you would guess how much of this goes on, because what they see is somebody unusually well prepared — the one with plasters in their bag and a plan for the parking. The worry and the competence are the same faculty pointed two different ways, and you would not trade away the second to be rid of the first, though you have thought about it.

The scanning turns inward and becomes rumination. You rehearse a conversation eleven times, and the version you rehearse is always the one where it goes badly.
What helps: Someone who will tell you plainly that the thing you are worried about is not happening — and be right often enough that you start to believe them.
How common is The Sentinel?
No population figures are published yet. Rarity is computed from a weekly aggregate release, and the first one appears once enough people have taken the assessment for a cell to clear the minimum publication size of 25.

What five letters can and cannot tell you
Less than the five scores underneath them, and far more memorably — that is the trade this page is making, deliberately.
