VABMG
The Flagship
sets the course and everybody follows
What is The Flagship?
Visionary and reliable at the same time, which is the rarest combination in this whole system. You see where it should go, you build the thing that gets it there, and people follow you because you have never once left them holding it.
The cost: Everyone assumes you are fine. You have been the steady one for so long that there is no one left above you to escalate to, and the load has grown to fill exactly the space you can carry.
The Flagship, as a person
You are the one who is fine. You see where it should go, you build the thing that gets it there, and in twenty years you have never once left somebody holding it. People follow you without being asked to, and the load has grown to fill exactly the space you can carry, because nobody has ever had a reason to check whether it should. There is no longer anyone above you to escalate to, and it has been a while since anyone asked how you are and waited for the real answer.
Written as one person rather than as a category, which is the point and also the risk — see the note at the bottom of this page.
What the five letters in VABMG mean
Each letter is one of the Big Five traits, read in OCEAN order. Select any of them to read what that trait measures and how it is scored.
Voyager — high Openness
goes looking for territory nobody has mapped.
Architect — high Conscientiousness
builds the plan and holds to it.
Beacon — high Extraversion
radiates outward, visible from a long way off.
Mender — high Agreeableness
closes the gaps between people.
Granite — low Neuroticism
does not move.
What The Flagship looks like at their best
Leading something that matters over years. You see where it should go, build the thing that gets it there, and have never once left people holding it.
What The Flagship looks like under pressure
The load grows to exactly fill what you can carry, and there is nobody above you to escalate to. Everyone assumes you are fine because you have always been fine.
What helps: A peer rather than a report. Somebody you do not have to be steady in front of.
How common is The Flagship?
No population figures are published yet. Rarity is computed from a weekly aggregate release, and the first one appears once enough people have taken the assessment for a cell to clear the minimum publication size of 25.
Nothing on this page claims to describe how common the type is among people. When a release exists it will say which population it came from and how many were in it.
Which types are closest to The Flagship?
These five differ by exactly one letter — so each stripe pattern below differs from yours in exactly one place. If any of your own letters came back in lowercase, one of these is genuinely as good a description of you as this page is.
What five letters can and cannot tell you
Less than the five scores underneath them, and far more memorably — that is the trade this page is making, deliberately.
A code compresses five continuous measurements into five letters, and throws away everything in between by design. Trait scores have no natural boundaries, so this names a neighbourhood rather than a species: two people sharing a code can differ a great deal, and somebody one letter away may be more like you than somebody who matches all five. Where your own score sits close to the middle we say so — that letter comes back lowercase rather than being decided by a coin flip you never see.
One more, published rather than buried: a personality description is the easiest thing in the world to believe about yourself. If this page felt uncanny, read two others at random and notice how much of those fit too.
